To determine the size of the transformer needed for a low-voltage lighting system, add up the wattage of all fixtures in the system and add 10% for low-voltage cable and fixture connections.
If the total load of fixtures is too great, either divide the total load between 2 transformers or use a more powerful transformer.
Select a transformer with 20% higher capacity than the total wattage of all fixtures in the system, which allows you to add more fixtures later.

This unit is extremely capable of producing serious voltage supply to landscape lights with the need for supplemental transformers. The multiple volt choices to connect lighting wire is great so you can compensate for voltage drop over the run of wire. Simple math will tell you what socket to hook your wire to based on number of lights (watts) and linear feet of wire to last fixture on the lighting chain of wire.
Straightforward and effortless to install. The dawn to dusk functionality surpasses that of my old (and I mean really old) power supply. While I can't comment on its longevity yet as I've only had it for about a month and a half, it's worth noting that it hasn't faced the intense heat of the south yet; the true test will come in the summer months. Update: It's been a year now, and I'm pleased to report that this transformer has exceeded my expectations. It continues to operate flawlessly, enduring the relentless sun of the southeast without faltering.
You won't find anything simpler than this. Just connect it, and it takes care of the rest for you. I personally utilize the photo sensor option, but you also have the flexibility to use the timer if you prefer.
